My Cheese Biscuit Recipe

I’ve been making some awesome (if I say so myself)  cheese biscuits for breakfast.  I only know that because my family (who are very vocal about what they like and dislike) tells me and they eat it.  My recipe is:


Dry ingredients:
2 cups of all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon of baking powder
3/4 tsp of salt
1/2 cup of cold butter (1 stick of butter)


Wet ingredients:
1 egg
7/8 cup of milk
3 tablespoons of oil


Additional ingredient:
Cheddar cheese


Directions:
Preheat 400 degrees (or 350 for convection oven).


1.  Combine the dry ingredients in one bowl
2.  Cut the butter into the dry ingredients using a pastry blender (the mixture should look coarse)
3.  Combine the wet ingredients in another bowl
4.  Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients bowl with butter.
5.  Once combined, add the cheddar cheese (as much or as little as you like)
6.  Place the mixture on the counter with flour.  Knead likely to make sure the mixture isn’t “wet”
7.  Roll out dough to about 1/2 inch thickness.  Cut out biscuit using biscuit cutter.
8.  Place biscuits onto stoneware in the oven with parchment paper (or a cookie sheet ).
9.  Bake for about 10-15 minutes.


I have a double oven.  The top oven is a convection oven.  I had first preheated the oven to 400 degrees. It was a big mistake as my biscuits would get very brown on the bottom and not on the top.  So, I decreased my heat to 350 and added a slivering of egg whites and cheese mixture on the tops of the biscuits before baking.  Very tasty. Try it!  I guarantee your family will love it!
